“In the mood for a wild ride of a book? Something smart and scary and exciting? Kevin Lucia’s HIRAM GRANGE & THE CHOSEN ONE fits the bill to perfection. It teems with monsters and demons, with arcane lore, black magic and narrow escapes. What could be more delicious? Long live Hiram Grange!”

Robert Dunbar, Bram Stoker Nominated author of THE SHORE and MARTYRS & MONSTERS

HIRAM GRANGE & THE CHOSEN ONE moves fast, fun and furious... I couldn't put it down! If you've always thirsted for James Bond to have a serving of Lovecraft -- you'll eat this one up.”

John Everson, Bram Stoker Award Winning Author of Covenant

Brilliantly paced and with very few moments for the reader to stop and catch their breath, Hiram Grange and the Chosen One is an adrenaline drenched jaunt through the realms of horror, fantasy and dark humor. Violence and gore abound, presented expertly by Lucia in a way that not only shows his raw talent, but the ruggedness of Hiram’s character as well.

Kevin Lucia strips down the narrative to deliver assaulting action, but is clever enough to inject humor within it as well, balancing the characters with humanity and allowing the dialogue to take over on Hiram's behalf when descriptions would have failed.

There is non-stop action seasoned with Lovecraftian chills, forming a page-turning final product that satisfies.  Lucia’s pacing is tight and his writing descriptive.....each chapter leaves you wanting to see what happens next.

I found Lucia’s Hiram version to be one of the best developed in the Hiram series, from dialog to description....Lucia’s writing flows well and the action is well done. The story is interesting enough to keep you looking forward to the next chapter. Lucia delivers a great novella, well worth the read.

The Event Horizon

Hiram is a very flawed man, and it is those flaws that make his heroism that much greater. Kevin Lucia grasps this concept and runs with it. His writing is clear and focused, bringing new depths to the character, and his monsters, steeped in Lovecraftian tradition, ooze with menace. Why are tentacles always so creepy?  While Lucia doesn't answer that particular question, he does create a fast-paced, magic-drenched, and tragic new chapter in the Hiram Grange mythos.

"I want to personally endorse this as one of the best stories I've read this year...packed with so much action that you'll be sitting on the edge of your seat throughout. It's tough not to care about the characters that show up in this story, as Lucia has written them out to fit Grange's world perfectly - a world that is dark and cold, yet very familiar to each and every one of us."

Paperback Horror

"If you’ve heard of F. Paul Wilson and his dual series, The Adversary Cycle and Repairman Jack, then you might understand where I’m coming from. Lucia does a very similar thing—he utilizes the tension of classic horror, the fast paced action of thrillers, and the unexpected creatures from the supernatural to explore a genre that can only be described as speculative. And like Wilson, he does an excellent job of taking those standard characters (detectives, women in distress, bookish female bosses) and making them his own..."

"Kevin Lucia has created a world of dark magic that spins through the midnight streets of Belfast, Northern Ireland with a lyrical and deeply affecting narrative filled with magic and folklore."
